Update

I'm been meaning to post a message saying that I'm blogging over at Southern Appeal. I may restart the OMC in the future to cover Mississippi related things.

Anyhoo, thanks reading!

Thomas Hamill is Free

The Mississippi truck driver that was held hostage by Iraqi terrorist thugs was discovered by US troops south of Tikrit this morning. Apparently the Macon native had escaped from his "hosts". Praise the Lord.

Work Stuff.

Again, I apologize for the lack of blogging. Some things have transpired here at work that are going to cause me to be very busy here over the next week. In fact, I'm at work now on a Saturday.

North and South

In a story about the switch of Mississippi Southern District Public Service Commissioner Mike Callahan from the Democrat to Republican Party, it's pointed out that the Mississippi delegation to the national convention in NY will share the Hilton Times Square with the Vermont delegation. Now, there's a combination. Maybe the Magnolia Staters' conservatism will rub off on relatively more squishy folk from the Land of the Green Mountains.

Ventura 2008

If he wins, we can have bumper stickers saying: "My President can beat up your president/chancellor/prime minister/monarch/premier/emir/sheikh/totalitarian thug"

Poking fun

A Jamaican site reports on the recent vacation taken by Sen. Hillary Clinton to the island. According to the article,
The wife of former president Bill Clinton, Rodham Clinton is now a member of the US Senate from New York, the first former first lady ever to be elected to the US legislature. She is being touted as a likely Democratic presidential candidate in 2009.
Perhaps she's planning an early start for the 2012 election? snicker, snicker.

A Few Things...

Tax Day has come and gone. Fortunately, unlike those of you that were gainfully employed during 2003, I didn't have the hassle and anguish of having to file taxes. Neener neener neener.

A Hamas leader dies due to sudden, unexpected contact with an Israeli missle.

Robert Spencer at WND pens an article hoping that Iraq will become like Mississippi where Thomas Hamill, a civilian currently being held hostage by thugs in Iraqs, hails from.

Random thought: If we aren't supposed to talk to strangers, then how do we make friends?

I just love the photo with this story.

Seriously, what planet does this person live on?

Howdy

Sorry for the extended hiatus. I've been busy getting used to my new job plus there's some family business that I tend to.

So, yes, I'm still alive.

Haiti

A quote from Haitian rebels seeking to topple that nation's government: "In Haiti, fighting dictatorship is what we do." Then rebels form a dictatorship just as bad has the previous one, then others rebels overthrow that one and create a new dictatorship, and so on and so on.

29th District

The Magnolia Report is reporting that Richard White has won in the special election for the 29th state senate district. MR also has a detailed breakdown of the race. With White's victory, the partisan balance in the state Senate will be 29 Democrats and 23 Republicans.

That's because yours truly now has a job. I start work tomorrow here. I found out this morning when the president of the company called me. Oh, man, I'm so excited! I hope I can do a good job there.

Are you having a hard time finding quality material for your blog?
Do you not have the time to post fresh thoughts on the world's most pressing issues all the time?
Do you have the time but you're just lazy?

If you answered "Yes" to any of those questions then try new AUTOBLOGGER!

AutoBlogger is best and easiest way to generate content for your blog!

"How does it work?" you ask. Well, it's quite simple. Our underpaid Indian programmers in Bombay have designed an algorithm that mimicks the blogging ability of noted blogger Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit fame! The AutoBlogger software scours the Web 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for URLS to other blogs and news sites, generates links to them and provides witty responses, like "Heh." and "Indeed." And stand back and watch your site counter rack up hits. Bask in the praise of your blogging peers, or as we call them, "bleers", for your insightful punditry!

How much would you pay for such dazzling software? Nothing? Ha! who do think we are? A bunch of Linux-loving, latte-sipping, Howard Dean-voting geeks! It's $29.99, you bunch of Commie hippies! Wait, wait, don't cry...we're sorry. To make up for our rudeness we'll throw in TrollGuard and a copy of "Randy Travis Sings Madonna's Greatest Hits" for free! How can you pass up an offer like that?
